One charged, two being questioned, after four burglaries

A man has been charged with a number of burglary offences, handling stolen goods and possession of class B drugs.

The 32-year-old is expected to appear at Newry Magistrates court on November 11.

The charges follow four burglaries reported to police on Tuesday.

Two properties in Longfield Heights in Newry were broken into, along with another house on the Blaney Road and one on the Newry Road in Crossmaglen.

Detectives investigating these burglaries are also questioning another two men, aged 41 and 24.

A vehicle, an old-style blue Audi, has also been seized.

Detective Inspector David Henderson said: “We are appealing for information in relation to these crimes. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have noticed a blue old-style Audi in the Newry or South Armagh areas over recent days.

“Detectives can be contacted by calling 101. Alternatively information about crime can be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”

As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
