A tractor, truck, motorbike and vintage car run will take place across Newry and South Armagh this weekend in memory of a constant fundraiser and the sadly missed “driving force” of a local vintage vehicle club.
Leaving from The Mountain House bar in Newry this Saturday, September 6, the annual run will honour the life and memory of Whitecross woman, Anne Lavelle.
Described by Belleek & District Vintage Club Newry as the “woman behind the wheel”, Anne sadly passed away on June 24, of this year.
Through its vintage tractor meet ups, the club regularly raises money for various charities, something Anne was heavily engaged in.
She also made the sandwiches, sold the tickets and carried out bucket collections.
To all at the club, Anne had a “heart of gold”.
And now, her family and friends aim to continue her legacy in raising funds for Evora Newry Hospice through their vehicle-inspired run.
Registration will commence in the bar at 1.30pm with entry priced at £20.
The road run will then begin at 3.30pm followed by a raffle and music at 9pm in the bar.
All are welcome to attend.
