New documentary to highlight human cost and tragedy of road deaths to get first showing in Newry

Completion of project comes as new support group for bereaved families meets for first time in the Canal Court

A new documentary about the personal cost and impact on families of road traffic accidents has been completed.

And the production – The Paulie Project – is due to be screened in Newry later this month.

Details of the event had been provided to Newry, Mourne and Down Council’s PCSP and Policing Committee.

The first screening is due to take place at the Omniplex at the Quays Shopping Centre.

Invitations have been sent out to the event, which is due to take place on Wednesday, January 29.

The documentary will then be used to help educate others and promote road safety by showing the human cost and how it affects so many lives.

Confirmation of the completion of the project comes in the same week that a new support group for those who have lost loved ones on local roads met for the first time.

The Road Ahead group met in the Canal Court Hotel in Newry on Thursday.

It is due to meet on the third Thursday of every month – at the same venue – from 7pm until 9pm.
