Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle crash on Saturday night

A man has died following a motorcycle crash outside Newry on Saturday night.

The man, travelling on a motorcycle at the time, collided with a car on the Castlewellan Road near Rathfriland, outside of Newry.

The crash happened at around 8.30pm.

Police confirmed that a 43-year-old man died as a result of his injuries sustained in a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

Speaking about the incident, Inspector Lynsey Barr said: “Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who has any information they believe could help them to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference 1450 of 26/08/17.”
