Men break into house and attack teenage boy with machetes

A number of men broke into a house in Newry and attacked a teenage boy with machetes during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the reported aggravated burglary at a house on Talbot Street area of the city.

It was reported that shortly after 2.15am a number of males armed with machetes forced their way into a property and attacked the male occupant.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment for an injury to his nose and large cuts to his arm and leg as a result of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Will Tate is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 236 05/06/18.
