A man who died in a Loughbrickland house fire has today been named.

He was James Paul O’Meara of Greenan Road.

Emergency services attended the fire on the Greenan Road area close to Poyntzpass shortly before 4.30am Wednesday morning.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze but, sadly, Mr O’Meara was pronounced dead at the scene.

A death notice describes him as the beloved father of James, Sinead and Ryan, dear son of Sally and the late Denis and brother of Denis and Bridie.

Paul’s remains will arrive to St. Patrick’s church, Loughbrickland tomorrow evening (Friday February 28 ) at 6.00pm for overnight repose.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12.00 noon on Saturday March 1, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Respectfully, the family home is strictly private.

Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for him.

Very deeply regretted by his loving sons, daughter, their mother Kathleen and the entire family circle.

May he rest in peace.
