A man was left in hospital after he was attacked by a large group in Newry on Sunday morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the vicious attack which happened around 2.10am.
The man was set upon by a number of people on Monaghan Street close to junction of Merchants Quay, close to the Canal Court Hotel and Bellinis.
A police spokesperson said: “As a result [of this assault] he required hospital treatment for a head injury.
“The area was busy with nightlife at the time.
“If anyone witnessed this assault please make contact with Police at Ardmore (tel 101) quote reference 290 13/08/17.”
