A man is to appear in court following a series of incidents in Newry over the weekend.
Police investigating incidents in the Chapel Street area of the city in the early hours of Saturday morning say they have charged a 23-year-old with a number of offences including.
The offences include; attempted burglary with intent to steal, criminal damage and burglary.
He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday).
As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
Independent Newry councillor, Gavin Malone, commented over the weekend said: “I have spoken to a shocked family in the Chapel Street area, who in the early hours of this morning had their home burgled while asleep in bed.
“The people who did this need to be put behind bars, but be under no doubt the community will rally around this hugely respected family in the coming days. Please watch out for your neighbours.”
