House damaged as car is set on fire in early morning arson attack

Incident happened shortly after 4am on Thursday morning

A house has been left damaged after an early morning arson attack on a car in Newry.

Detectives are appealing for information after the deliberate attack within the city in the early hours of this Thursday morning (September 22). 

Shortly before 4.15am it was reported that a vehicle had been set alight in the vicinity of Nursery Drive and was completely destroyed as a result of this attack.

Scorch damage was also caused to property nearby.

Detective Constable Skillen said “Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference 161 22/09/17, or if they wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Two fire crews from Newry Fire Station attended the incident which was dealt with shortly before at 5.30am.
