House and car smashed up by three men with hurling sticks

A 23-year-old was arrested and released on bail

Police are appealing for witnesses after damage was caused to car and a house in Hollyridge Lane in Newry on Wednesday, May 17.

It was reported that between 10.40pm and 10.50pm three men smashed the windows of a Ford Fiesta car parked in the area.

The window in a house was also smashed during the incident.

The three men were described as being tall and wearing dark clothing.

Two of them were wearing balaclavas and all were reported to have been carrying hurley sticks.

The males made off on foot in the direction of the Five ways Roundabout.

A 23-year-old male was arrested a short time later on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was interviewed and subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone that may have seen three persons acting suspiciously around the Armagh Road/Tandragee Road/Five ways Roundabout or Carnbane Industrial Estate to contact officers in Newry on 101 quoting reference number 1327 of 17/05/17.
