Heartbroken owner of injured horse pleas for people to stop pelting it with stones

Injured horse

The owner of a horse who was injured after having stones pelted at it has begged to responsible to stop.

The horse, which is in a field behind Derrybeg in Newry, suffered a bad injury to its legs after being struck with a stone on Monday evening.

Independent councillor Gavin Malone, who spoke with the owner, said the state of the horse and how it is now acting was “heartbreaking”.

“Please leave this beautiful creature alone,” councillor Malone pleaded.

“Ive been up at the field behind Derrybeg today and met the owner of this beautiful horse,” he explained.

“Last night people fired stones at it and sadly one has hit him in the leg and caused an injury which now needs to be treated.

“The owner told me the horse was scared to come to him today. This is heartbreaking and please, if anyone sees who is doing this challenge them.”
