A Gilford family has been left devastated after the heartbreaking loss of a much-loved husband and wife who passed away just one day apart.
John died on Tuesday, November 18, followed by his beloved wife Mary (née Campbell), who also passed away peacefully at Craigavon Area Hospital earlier today (Wednesday), surrounded by their loving family.
The couple were the devoted parents of Michael, Paula, Sean, Fergal and the late baby John.
John was a treasured brother of Patsy and Martin, and the late baby Mona, Hugh and Joe (R.I.P.), while Mary was a cherished sister of Francis, Joe, Una, Alice, Jean, George and Paul, and the late Bill (R.I.P.).
Their deaths have been met with widespread sorrow, not only in their immediate family but throughout the wider community, where they were fondly regarded as a warm, gentle and devoted couple.
Tributes have been pouring in for Mary and John, described by many as “a lovely and wonderful couple”.
Another recalled Mary for her love of bingo and doing her shopping with her daughter.
One person wrote: “Very sad losing both parents at the same time, but comforting for the family to know that they are together forever. May they both rest in peace.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
John and Mary are deeply regretted and sadly missed by their sons, daughter, daughters-in-law Gail, Katherine and Tamara, grandchildren Nicole, James, Molly, Joe, Sean, Eoín, Eimear, Niall, Jack and Mia, great-grandson Paudie, as well as their wider family circle of brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
