And police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
It happened shortly before mid-day on Tuesday, July 3.
Police said it involved “a silver, three-door car”.
Constable McCormac said: “An elderly lady was injured in this incident which happened around 11.45am close to a car park in the Lower Water Street area of the city.
“She remains in hospital in intensive care.
“The area was busy at the time of the collision and we would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened – particularly to one lady who did indicate to officers that she had seen the incident.
