Driver’s miraculous escape as car ploughs through fence and ends up in sheugh

This is the shocking aftermath of a car that lost control because the driver was drunk at the wheel.

The car, travelling at speed, veered on the main Warrenpoint Road outside Newry in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

As a result the car ploughed through a fence before coming to a grinding halt in a shuck almost 150-feet away from the initial impact.

A PSNI spokesperson said the driver only suffered minor injuries.

“This is what happens when you drive with drink & drugs in your system,” explained the spokesperson.

“Over 150-feet travelled through fence and undergrowth to end up in the sheugh.

“The driver sustained, by some miracle, only minor injuries & they remain in custody.”
