Co Armagh man who harassed woman handed restraining order

A Co Armagh man has been handed a restraining order after he was convicted of harassment at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Barry James Fearon, of Chapel Road in Meigh, was also convicted of improper use of electronic communications against the same female victim.

The offences occurred on dates between May 13, 2022 and October 7.

The 52-year-old was found not guilty of one count of stalking.

He was handed fines totalling £600 and the restraining order will remain in place until December 30, 2024.

Inspector Heatley, of the Local Policing Team in Newry, said: “I want to assure all members of the public that we take harassment and crime of this nature extremely seriously. Such actions, without doubt, cause unacceptable distress to all concerned. If you are the victim of similar, or indeed of any crime, please contact police on 101, or in an emergency call 999.”
