Chairs taken from Newry businesses and thrown into canal

'This might seem funny to those doing it however this is an offence'

Police are appealing for help to catch those responsible for taking chairs from businesses in Newry and throwing them in the canal.

It happened sometime between Friday, May 4 and today (Wednesday), May 9.

The PSNI said they had been made aware that chairs were taken from businesses and found their way into the canal.

They have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

“This might seem funny to those doing it however this is an offence,” warned Newry and Mourne police.

“Local business owners are out the expense of having to replace the chairs.

“If you have any information contact 101 reference 775 09/05/18.”
