Cash stolen after break-in at Rathfriland hardware store

A sum of money was stolen following a break-in at a hardware stole in Rathfriland overnight.

Police are appealing for information following the incident at Rathfriland Hardware on the Main Street.

Sergeant Stewart said: “Shortly before 8.10am on Monday, May 15, it was reported to police that entry was gained to a premises in the area. It was reported that a sum of money was taken during the incident.”

Posting on social media, Rathfriland Hardware, which had closed for a period this morning, said: “Thanks to the fast response of the PSNI and CSI the shop is now open for business. Thank you all for you kind response on Facebook and also to those who have called and stopped in to offer help and support. No business needs this. Any information regarding the break in will be very much appreciated.”

Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 288 15/05/23.
