Appeal for witnesses after car driven on grass in Newry almost hits pedestrians

Police in Newry have issued an appeal for witnesses following a report of a vehicle being driven dangerously on the grass off First Avenue.

The report was received yesterday evening (February 25) at approximately 7.45pm where it was said that the recklessly driven vehicle had almost collided with several pedestrians and dog walkers.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Thanks to the members of the public who reported this, the vehicle has now been taken off the road. We’re very fortunate the grass was the only casualty tonight.”

The vehicle concerned is a Black Kia Rio, registration YEZ4837 (pictured).

Police are appealing for any witnesses to identify the driver and possibly passengers who clearly have no regard for the safety of the local community.
