Air Ambulance called to scene after woman sustains ‘serious injuries’ in collision

A man has been arrested and released on police bail

A woman has sustained serious injuries after a collision close to Newry.

Craigmore Way had been closed between the Fiveways roundabout and the A1 / Camlough Road on-slip of the A1 for several hours.

The collision happened earlier this afternoon.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service were tasked to the scene.

The Northern Ireland Air Ambulance also had to be called in response to the collision, which is understood to have involved two vehicles.

Police have said a female sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, a man has been arrested and released on police bail.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, and would specifically ask anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 560 190520.

Craigmore Way has now fully reopened to traffic.
