Air Ambulance at scene of serious road traffic collision on A1

Air Ambulance RTC A1

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A1.

It has happened on the dual carriageway at the turn-off for Blackskull.

An eyewitness told Armagh I of seeing three ambulances en route to the scene.

At least two vehicles have been involved and are described as “very badly damaged”. One of these is on the embankment.

The NI Air Ambulance has landed close by.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the A1 is closed in both directions.

This is in place between Boals Lane / Mackeys Lane to the north, and Drumneath Road / Halfway Road to the south due to what they describe as a “serious RTC”.

They added that the road is “likely to be closed for some time”.

Please find alternative routes and avoid the A1 if at all possible.

There are no further details at present.
