Multi-agency checkpoints lead to a number of vehicle seizures in the Banbridge area

Police have confirmed that following a multi-agency checkpoint operation a number of vehicles have been seized.

The checkpoints which took place in the Banbridge and Dromore area were carried out by Banbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team along with officers from HMRC on Thursday.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The objective of the operation was targeting vans and commercial vehicles in response to recent reports of cold calling in the community.”

The successful operation saw the seizure of four vehicles for the use of red diesel, one driver identified for no insurance and an arrest of an individual for “criminal matters”.

Various vehicles were searched by police and colleagues from HMRC.

Police urged public: “If you ever see anything suspicious or any persons cold calling in your area please contact police on 101.”
