Mother and child’s lucky escape ‘after car mounts pavement’

A mother and child had a lucky escape after a car was reported to have narrowly missed them when it mounted a footpath in Lurgan, Co Armagh.

They were not hurt but had to move to safety during the incident on Monday afternoon.

It happened near the ongoing road works at the North Circular Road and Lake Street junction area of the town at about 1.45pm.

A silver car allegedly drove onto the footpath, within the road works, and narrowly missed the mum and child after they took evasive action.

Police have asked anyone who saw the incident to contact Lurgan PSNI Station.

A spokesperson added: “Motorists are also reminded of the need to adhere to any temporary restrictions put in place by Police/DRD Road Service or contractors working on their behalf.”
