A Newry and Armagh Assemblyman is stable in hospital after undergoing a major heart operation.
Sinn Fein’s Cathal Boylan underwent surgery on Thursday.
His party colleagues have been paying tribute to Mr Boylan and expressed their hopes for a speedy recovery.
Megan Fearon MLA said: “Cathal has been a tireless campaigner for the people of Armagh and the wider Armagh area.
“He’s a dedicated public servant, a committed republican and I’m sure the people of Armagh and indeed the entire constituency are as eager to see Cathal back on his feet and doing what he does best as the rest of us are.”
Meanwhile Conor Murphy MLA offered his best wishes to him from the floor of the Assembly.
Speaking on Friday, Mr Murphy said: “Before I make my contribution, I want to offer my best wishes to my party colleague Cathal Boylan, who underwent a very serious heart operation yesterday.
“Thankfully, he is stable today, and I am sure that the House will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery and a quick return to work.”
Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady also paid tribute to his colleague.
“I want to firstly send my best wishes to Cathal and indeed the entire Boylan family,” he said. “Cathal is a tremendous public servant, colleague and friend and we are all eager to see him back on his feet,” he said.
“Cathal lives and breathes Armagh and has been as dedicated a campaigner for the surrounding rural areas as he has for the city.
“Sinn Fein and indeed the entire constituency will be all the better of when Cathal returns to the fore.”
