Woman critical following collision with lorry near Markethill

A woman remains critically ill in hospital following a road traffic collision involving a lorry near Markethill yesterday afternoon.

The accident happened on the main Armagh to Newry Road between junctions of Ballyvally Road and Tandragee Road.

Armagh I understands the lorry jack-knifed on the road, causing the road to be blocked in both directions.

There were long tailbacks around rush hour yesterday evening as motorists were diverted from the scene.

A police spokesperson told Armagh I: “Police received a report of a collision between car and lorry on the Gosford Road shortly before 4.30pm. The female car driver was taken to hospital with injuries described as critical but stable.”

Our thoughts are with the injured woman and we hope for a full and speedy recovery.
