A woman claiming she wanted to volunteer at a care home made off with a television set from a resident’s room.
Police in Armagh are appealing for information following the theft of a television from a care home in Markethill.
Around 6pm on Friday, February 5, staff at the care home on Main Street encountered a female in the home.
She claimed to be seeking advice on voluntary work.
Sometime later it was discovered that a 19-inch Samsung television had been stolen from a resident’s room.
Police believe this was a distraction burglary and that the television may have been removed from the premises through a side door that leads on to a courtyard and on to Main Street.
The female encountered by staff is described as being around 16 or 17 years old and of slim build with a pale complexion and acne scars on her cheeks.
She has short, light brown hair and was wearing a cream hairband. She was also wearing a blue polo shirt with the collar up, aa navy hooded top and navy track bottoms.
Police would like to hear from anyone who any activity around the home during this time or anyone who has information that may assist their investigation. They can be contacted in Armagh on 101, quoting ref: 1227 050216.
