Two teenagers arrested in connection with gun-point robbery

Two teenagers have been arrested in Dublin in connection with an armed robbery in the Markethill area yesterday afternoon.

It is understood they are a 17-year-old and 13-year-old.

Four men forced their way into a home in the Redrock area of county Armagh, confronting a 17-year-old girl and holding her at gunpoint.

They made off with her Ford Fiesta car.

Danny Kennedy MLA expressed concern at the upsurge in crime in the area.

“This was the latest robbery in a matter of days in the general area and it is particularly concerning that this attack involved the use of firearms,” he said. “I will be meeting with local Police chiefs to discuss the situation.”

He welcomed the arrests made by the Garda in respect of this case.

The attack was also condemned by local Ulster Unionist Councillors in the area, Councillor Jim Speers and Councillor Gordon Kennedy, who described the attack as “disgusting and deeply worrying”.
