A trailer load of used tyres was dumped in Gosford Forest Park in Markethill on Tuesday night.
The outrageous bout of fly-tipping was discovered on Wednesday morning, having blocked a popular walking track in the park.
TUV Councillor Keith Ratcliffe has slammed those responsible for this abhorrent environmental crime.
“I was disgusted to learn about the fly-tipping of a large amount of tyres in Gosford Forest Park on Tuesday night,” he said.
“The tyres have entirely blocked a main walking path in the forest. Not only has this caused disruption for the many people who use the forest, but it will also have a very negative impact on the environment.
“Gosford Forest Park provides a green haven for citizens from across the borough and beyond.
“It is disgraceful that somebody has sought to violate the forest in such a cynical and selfish way for their own ends.
“Much money has been invested into the park in recent years to enhance the facilities and it is very disheartening for some to literally treat it as a dumping ground.
“I have requested that the tyres be removed urgently, that this is throughly investigated and that the means of preventing future instances are explored.”
