One of County Armagh’s oldest GAA clubs is planning for the future with an impressive new pavilion development.

Clady GFC was founded in 1888 and, on its own website, boasts how it has a long and rich tradition, now recognised as “one of the leading exponents of football in the County”.

And looking to the generations to follow, the club has now lodged an application for impressive new facilities.

Proposals submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council detail a new changing pavilion – although the facility represents more than the name suggests.

For in addition to changing accommodation for both home and visiting teams, the development – if approved – will also incorporate gym and multi-activity area. It will include a meeting room too, as well as – drawings show – a kitchen and shop area.

The shower facilities will also include an ice bath, there is changing for visiting referees and there is toilet provision too, including fully accessible WC.

The existing changing pavilion and storage room will be retained, according to the official application, while a new entrance wall and gates are planned.

Parking provision will increase from the existing 40 to 65 when complete.

The progressive Countny Armagh club is located on the Clady Road at Mowhan.

And the new pavilion – which will have a sloped roof – will sit slightly raised above the main playing surface. There will be steps down to pitch level and an access ramp too.

The proposals will now be advertised in the coming weeks with a decision to follow in due course.
