Markethill and District Outdoor Bowling Club is celebrating another successful season, again lifting a string of titles and individual honours.
During the 2025 season the club achieved what was described as a “history making” season with members bringing home silverware at all levels. The “Saturday Team” won NIBA Senior Division 2 for the first time in its history but were denied promotion to Division 1 due to a league restructuring.
The club also won the NIBA Super 6s title for the first time. The ladies team won the all 3 knockout cups they entered, and narrowly missed out on the league title by half a point.
And there has been no let up in success in 2026 with the club winning a strengthened NIBA Division 2 league for the second year in a row. The team can look ahead with confidence to their first season in Division 1 of the NIBA alongside some of the best teams in Ireland!
The Super 6s retained their title defeating a very strong Banbridge side in the final.
The ladies team continued to enjoy huge success winning the Junior League, and retaining the Joyce Kavanagh Cup and the Mary Moore Trophy. They also won the NIWBA section of the McMaster Cup for a second year in a row, and acquitted themselves well at the Irish finals of this competition in September.
The ladies can also boast winning the NIWBA Singles and Fours titles.
The club, as always, was well represented across all association competitions with one junior member making the final of the NIBA U18 singles and honoured with a call up to the NIBA U25s team.
The members were keen to thank Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon councillors and greenkeeping staff for their hard work in assisting with improvements to the playing surface and are hoping these improvements continue both on and off the green.
