A man wielding a hammer smashed a display case in a Markethill shop before making off with a number of mobile phones.
Police are have appealed for information and witnesses following the theft in Fairgreen Road area yesterday, Thursday, December 4.
Sergeant Magill said: “Just before 5.30pm, a man dressed all in black and described as 5’8″ and of medium build, entered commercial premises in the Fairgreen Road area.
“The suspect who was carrying a hammer, smashed a display case and lifted a number of mobile phones, before leaving the shop in an unknown direction.
“Our enquiries are ongoing today, and we want to identify who was responsible and a motive.
“Anyone who witnessed what happened or noticed suspicious behaviour in the area is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1102 04/12/25.
“We would also be keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or mobile footage of the area shortly before and just after 5.30pm that we could review.”
