Lambeg labour of love: How one Markethill family name came to reverberate across the country

It took three men and a kettle to prepare the wood for turning on their first Lambeg drum attempt, said Roland Sterritt. But with a bit of trial and error, the Sterritt name soon became synonymous with sound and quality.
In and around the Markethill area, the Sterritts have long been known for their involvement in making Lambeg drums... and there's a fair few drummers among them too.
And after 30 years of honing that skill their name continues to reverberate country-wide for the quality of the drums they produce and the "bell" that rings inside.
Ahead of the July celebrations, Armagh I caught up with master drum maker Roland Sterritt at his home - where he still works on Lambeg drums - to delve into that rich family histo...
