Forced entry burglary in Markethill and assault case to be heard at crown court

A case of an alleged burglary in which a 37-year-old man is accused of forcing entry to a house and assaulting a woman is to be heard at crown court.

Robert Aleksander Rusek, of no fixed abode, is charged with entering a property at Bunker Hill, Markethill as a trespasser on February 11 with intent to cause damage and assaulted the female occupant.

It is further alleged having entered the house by force he damaged a lock and clothing belonging to the female, contravening a court order in the process.

A prosecuting lawyer told Armagh Magistrates’ Court the case is on track for a committal hearing to transfer for trial.

District Judge Anne Marshall listed this for hearing on September 13.

If the defence does not object to witness evidence at that time it is expected he will be returned to crown court.
