Markethill Livestock Sales Sheep Prices

AN entry of 1380 sheep at Markethill on yesterday (Wednesday), March 6, sold in a vastly improved trade.

Heavy hoggets sold to £100 each with several pens from £96 to £99.50 each. Top rate of 400p per kilo was paid for 25 kilos @ £100 each. In all, 450 heavy hoggets average 26.5 kilos @ £97.40 each (367)

Middleweight hoggets sold from 370p to 405p per kilo with a top of 407p per kilo for 22 kilos @ £89.50 each. In all, 440 middleweights average 22 kilos @ £84.10 each (379)

Stores sold steadily from 340 p to 385p per kilo with a top of 394p per kilo for 19 kilos @ £74.80 each.

Good quality cull ewes sold from £80 to £104 each with 2nds from £50 to £70 each.

Another full yard of Ewes and lambs sold readily with doubles selling to £220. Several pens sold from £180 to £215 each. Top quality singles sold from £150 to £196 each. Others sold from £115 to £140 each.
