A man was kicked and punched on the ground by up to seven people in a late night attack.
At around 1.45am on Monday, May 4 the wing mirror of a car was kicked by a number of people on the rural Coalpit Road on the outskirts of Newry City.
The 44-year-old male driver of the car exited the vehicle and was set upon by a group of people, possibly six or seven of them.
The man was kicked and punched to the body and head and sustained injuries which required medical attention.
Sergeant Christopher Tate said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault or has information which may assist our investigation. We can be contacted in Newry on 101, quoting ref: 132 040515.”
