Man carrying hammer arrested following county Armagh assault

An assault which involved one man possessing a hammer took place outside an off licence in county Armagh.

Police in Lurgan are appealing for information following the incident on Old Portadown Road.

Around 6.10pm on Sunday, May 3, three men were involved in an altercation and assault.

One of the men had a hammer in his possession.

A 37-year-old man sustained head injuries and a 27-year-old man was arrested for attempted GBH and possession of an offensive weapon. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Kelly Gibson said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault or has information in relation to it. We can be contacted in Lurgan on 101, quoting ref: 881 030515.”
