Detectives have arrested a 27 year old man following a serious assault on a woman in the Merchants Quay area of Newry in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, September 20.
The woman was punched to the stomach and face and was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries.
Detective Inspector David Henderson said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or who has any information to contact Detectives at Newry on the non-emergency number 101.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
