Woman to appear in court on animal cruelty charges after video shared online

The woman will appear in court at a later date following today's charges

A woman is due to appear in court charged with a number of animal cruelty offences.

An investigation was launched after a video showing a woman mistreat a dog was shared on social media earlier this week.

Police seized the little blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Lurgan while they questioned the woman.

It was confirmed this evening that a 34-year-old woman was charged with animal cruelty offences.

She will appear in court at a later date.

Posting images of the pup last night a police spokesperson said: “You may recognise this little guy from a video that’s done the rounds on social media this evening.

“Thanks to those who reported it, here he is pictured in the safe arms of ‘A’, who I’m told he’s taken a bit of a shine to!

“Little puppy is now safe with a recognised breeder.

“An investigation is now underway and his owner will be answering some questions about animal cruelty offences.”
