Woman dragged from vehicle during early morning hijacking

A woman was dragged from her vehicle during an early morning hijacking in Co Armagh.

It happened in the Sloan Street area of Lurgan at around 12.15am today (Thursday)..

The car – a white Skoda Famia – was later crashed and burned out outside St Paul’s GAA Club.

Speaking after learning of the incident, Doug Beatttie MC MLA said: “This will have been a very traumatic incident for this woman to go through. The thugs involved in this crime have no thought for anyone, and they certainly do not care about the distress they are causing to people in this part of Lurgan.”

The Upper Bann Ulster Unionist Assemblyman added: “I hope this woman can recover from this and be able to enjoy Christmas. In the meantime, can I urge anyone with any information about this to contact PSNI by phoning 101.

“Let’s stop this nonsense.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact them on the non-emergency number 101 quoting serial 22 of 22/12/16, or alternatively ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
