Two men sustain cuts and bruising after being assaulted during early morning burglary

A man is due in court on Friday

Two men sustained cuts and bruising after being assaulted by two intruders at a house during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police in Lurgan are investigating the report of the incident at a house in the Dean’s Walk area of the town.

It was reported at around 3.45pm that two males forced entry to a house and assaulted two men.

They left the scene on foot in the direction of Dill Avenue following the incident.

As part of follow up enquiries officers arrested a 45-year-old man.

He has been charged with a number of offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

Police meanwhile are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police in Lurgan on 101 quoting reference number 1336 15/04/20.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
