Tributes paid to Lurgan man with ‘a beautiful soul’ and ‘cheeky smile’

Tributes have been paid following the sudden death of a Lurgan man known widely for his “beautiful soul” and “cheeky smile”.

Ian Reginald Collen – also known as ‘Reggie’ – passed away on Wednesday (March 12) at this home in the Queens Place area of the town.

News of his death has come as an incredible shock to all those who knew and loved him.

By many, Ian was regarded as a constantly happy character, who would never have passed without stopping for conversation.

He wore a smile from ear to ear and was always up for a laugh.

In sharing their condolences one person said: “Absolutely sick to my stomach reading this, all you been through and fought. Absolutely beautiful soul, from school chums ’til now. My heart’s broken Ian, I wish this wasn’t true.”

His cousin added: “A young life ended too soon.

“That once joyous wee soul, with the cheekiest chappy laugh. Fell silent.

“My heart breaks for the nicest people that have ever graced this earth, my aunt and uncle, on the loss of one of their boys.

“And my cousins who will come to remember their crazy holidays and the good old days. And remember the cheeky, joker, neighbours-loving, beautiful soul that he once was.

“R.I.P. little cousin, be at peace now.”

A death notice described Ian as the beloved son of Adrian and Carol and loving brother of William and David.

His funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
