Three new hot food outlets are being planned as part of a major revamp of a supermarket in Moira.
The development relates to Poole’s SuperValu on Main Street and represents a significant investment in the award-winning village.
The owners have submitted a pre-application notice to Lisburn and Castlereagh Borough Council, given the scale of the proposals.
And more details will be made known at a public information event, to be held in the vacant unit next to the SuperValu outlet next month.
Feedback received will then be used to shape an application seeking full planning approval to proceed.
Little is known ahead of the formal information event, other than the hope is to demolish what is already on site.
All existing retail buildings and associated outbuildings will be removed.
The plan then would be to build a replacement retail unit, as well as three “lettable hot food units”.
Entry to the site and exit points would be “adjusted” too.
Car parking, including disability and mother and child provision, is incorporated in the plans. There would also be a single space for those availing of the air/water/vac facilities.
Four electric vehicles charging points would be provided.
There would be a dedicated secure delivery yard, while pedestrian footpaths, protection bollards and landscaped areas complete the proposals.
In all, the proposed new development would offer a collective total of over 16,000 sq ft of floorspace.
The proposals would be expected to create new jobs for the area too, both during construction and upon completion.
