Thieves continue to target vehicles overnight in Lurgan

For several nights Lurgan residents have woken up to vehicles being broken into in the area.

Police have confirmed to Armagh I that they are investigating a report of suspicious behaviour in the Avondale Green area of the town.

Police received a report at approximately 7.10am on Tuesday that someone had entered a vehicle parked in the area overnight.

Nothing was taken from the car and no damage was caused.

Police then received a second report shortly after 10.10am on Tuesday that someone had broken into a vehicle in the same area, causing damage to the car door.

A police spokesperson said: “We are treating this report as criminal damage and also believe it happened sometime overnight.

“Our enquiries are continuing and anyone who witnessed this damage taking place or who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage that could help, can call police on 101, quoting reference numbers 243 and 484 of 04/04/23.

“We are especially keen to hear from anyone who may have noticed any unusual or suspicious behaviour in the Avondale Green area on Monday evening, April 3 or during the early hours of Tuesday morning.”

There have also been unconfirmed reports of a car stolen from the Gilpins Mews area of Lurgan overnight on Monday/Tuesday morning.
