‘Significant damage’ caused after arson at unoccupied house

Detectives in Lurgan are investigating an arson attack on a house in Castle Lane Mews.

The blaze at the property was reported to police at around 9.10pm last night (Sunday).

Detective Constable Lauren Edwards said it appeared the fire was deliberately started in the living room of an unoccupied property.

“The flames spread and significant damage was caused,” she said. “A woman and a child in an adjoining property were able to leave their home safely while police and fire crews dealt with the incident.

“We are appealing for information regarding this crime and would be particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at around the time the fire was reported. The number to call is 101.”
