Shock at passing of young Lurgan woman ‘who brightened the room with her smile’

Andria Morgan

A sense of shock and devastation has fallen over a Co Armagh community following the sad passing of a young Lurgan woman on Thursday.

Andria Morgan, from Rampart Street in the town, passed away peacefully at Craigavon Area Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was the beloved daughter of Cathy McConaghy and Martin, a much loved stepdaughter of Damien and loving sister of Ceara, Ethan, David and Megan.

Andria’s untimely passing has been felt by so many; many of whom have taken to social media to convey that sense of sadness and sorrow.

Hundreds of tributes have been paid to a young woman who “brightened the room up with her smile and personality”.

One former colleague described her as the “funniest girl I have ever met” who “always made my shift at work a whole lot easier”.

Andria’s sense of humour was reflected in many of the tributes.

Another wrote: “Andria was one of the funniest girls with the brightest of smiles, such a dry funny sense of humour, which everyone loved; she could have had the room roaring with laughter. Absolute pleasure to have met you through work…she will be missed by many.”

One man commented: “Andria was a lovely woman with a kind heart and caring nature.”

Another said: “Truly sorry to have heard this. She was a polite friendly and very caring person. It was a privilege to have known her. Heaven has gained another angel.”

While one person simple described her passing as “devastating” – “the nicest person you could ever meet!”

Andria will repose at her sister Ceara’s residence, 62 Silverwood Leaves, BT66 6LB where everyone will be welcomed while paying their respects.

Removal on Tuesday at 9.45 am to arrive at St. Peter’s Church, Lurgan for 10.30 am Requiem Mass. Burial will take place afterwards in St. Coleman’s Cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers are to Special Olympics Ireland, where Andria worked, c/o McAlinden & Murtagh Funeral Directors, 2 North Street, Lurgan, Telephone 028 3832 4404.
