A second person has been charged with murdering Lurgan man Shane Whitla just over a week ago.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have tonight (Friday) confirmed they have charged a 28-year-old man.

He was arrested on Wednesday and police had been granted an extension to question the suspect.

The man has been charged with murder and possession of firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

He is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, January 21.

A 29-year-old man, arrested on Thursday evening, also remains in custody at this time.

Earlier today, 25-year-old Kevin Conway appeared in Craigavon Magistrates’ Court charged with a single count of murder.

The court heard how the accused “totally denied any involvement in this murder”.
