Resurfacing scheme in Co Armagh to begin after four years of lobbying

Temporary road closure at Lough Road during works

Long-awaited road works in Lurgan are to go ahead at the end of next month.

The scheme – at the Lough Road – will begin on Saturday, June 23 and will run until Friday, July 6.

A temporary road closure will be in place between 8am on the Saturday through until 6pm on the Friday.

The scheme – on a 1,300 metre stretch of the road – will involve resurfacing.

Notification of the works has been given in writing to SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly.

She has welcomed confirmation.

“This has been long overdue and residents from the area have been contacting the SDLP office for the best part of four years for something to be done,” said the MLA.

During the works, traffic is to be diverted via Kiln Road, Silverwood Road, Eastway, Portadown Road, Edward Street, Church Place and William Street.
