One woman taken to hospital following incident at Lurgan railway line which has re-opened

Police and ambulance crews are currently at the scene of an ongoing incident in the William Street area of Lurgan.

Officers were called to the area on Thursday afternoon at the request of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, with the railway line initially closed in both directions to allow emergency services to operate.

A police spokesperson later confirmed that one woman had been taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries. No further details on her condition have been released.

“The railway line was closed for a period of time but has since re-opened,” the spokesperson added.

Earlier, Translink had warned passengers of significant disruption after what it described as “an operating incident between Lurgan and Portadown”.

A spokesperson said: “Due to an operating incident between Lurgan and Portadown the line is closed.

“Disruption is expected to services running through these stations until further notice.”

It is understood the HEMS Air Ambulance team was also tasked to the scene.
