Police treating Co Armagh assault as homophobic hate crime

Incident happened in early hours of Sunday morning

Police are treating an assault in county Armagh on Sunday morning as a homophobic hate crime.

A man was assaulted in the early hours of Sunday morning in the William Street area of Lurgan.

A police spokesperson said: “We are treating this as a homophobic hate crime, and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time.

“If you saw the fight, or know anyone who was involved, please get in touch. I’m investigating this one so you can call 101, text or call 07825712645, or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“The incident number is 1042 of 18/06/17.

“If you were one of the other males, there may be CCTV available in that area, so to save an Op Exposure release of your face on Facebook, get in touch sooner rather than later.”
