Police issue warning after man threatens people with knife and smashes up bar

Police have issued a warning on knife crime after a man was arrested in Lurgan over the weekend.

PSNI in Craigavon took to social media to highlight the dangers of carrying a knife following an incident in Lake Street.

A man was arrested after threatening people and smashing bottles in a bar in the town.

PSNI Craigavon posted: “When we’ve to take someone here, it’s never good. Banbridge custody.

“This particular trip was for a man we were called about in Lurgan threatening people with a knife and smashing bottles in a bar on Lake Street. He was arrested for several offences including for ‘possession of a blade or point’

“Knife crime is NEVER ok. It will also get a very direct response from ourselves. We’re not trained knife fighters, and we don’t just bring batons to a knife fight.

“Arming yourself with a knife has been proven statistically to increase your chances of becoming a victim of crime, including having the knife used against you!

“Don’t even think about taking weapons out in public. It will only end badly for you.”
