Plans lodged for £1.3m Co Armagh recycling plant

Neighbourhood consultation began on Monday

Plans have been lodged for a new £1.3million recycling plant in county Armagh.

Rathfriland-based Plaswire Limited – a polymer recycling company – are looking to erect the 1,800mpremises in Lurgan.

The company hope to place themselves next to a number of similar businesses in the Halfpenny Business Park on the Portadown Road.

Along with the recycling premises, the plans also include offices, a service yard and perimeter fencing.

The plans were lodged last month with the neighbourhood consultation beginning on Monday (October 16).

The plans are expected to be publicly advertised this week.

The company specialises in the disposal of polymers produced during the manufacturing processes.

Plans have also been submitted for a a new used car sales development could be opening next to Portadown Health Centre.

The site, at Meadow Lane, is currently occupied by a bungalow and an area of waste ground and to many is an eyesore in a highly-developed area.
